More tickets! 300 new speed cameras on polish roads

WYNAJEM NEWS

Since mid August, 300 traffic enforcement cameras will be installed on Polish roads. Photos taken by them will be clearer, so the tickets will be written out much faster than before.

Most cameras will be placed at sections, where the greatest risk of accidents is visible. As everybody knows, drivers slow down when they notice the information about  traffic enforcement camera and then, after passing it, they raise the speed again. Such irregular speed can increase the risk of danger. Moreover, last year it was observed that most accidents occurred in provinces with large number of speed cameras: in the region of Mazovia and Silesia.

The sign of speed control- D-51-must be placed in front of speed camera at a distance:

  • from 100 to 200m- on roads with speed limit to 60km/h,
  • from 200 to 500m- on roads with speed limit above 60km/h, with the exception of expressways and motorways,
  • from 500 to 700- on dual expressways and motorways.

As ITD announces, the devices will be used not only to measure speed. Special sets will be purchased to detect crossing at the red light. To test these sets, thery were installed at a busy intersection in Warsaw. Within six weeks they registered up to 3.5 thousand offences!

ITD also wants the penalties to be imposed on drivers only by an administrative decision. Officials will be able to send notifications about rule breaking together with the already prepared ticket.

Drivers, keep your eyes open! Hard times are coming for your wallets ...
